Olive oil is one of the best oil in the world. It is a fluid fat got from olives, a conventional tree yield of the Mediterranean Basin. The oil is created by squeezing entire olives. It is normally utilized as a part of cooking, dressing, baking or salad topping. In fact, you can use olive oil in almost everything.
There are two different types of olive oil:
- Pure olive oil
- Extra virgin olive oil
Pure olive oil
It is light colored and clear. With pure olive oil is cooking oil. You can do cooking, frying, baking etc. if you want to cook something on heat, use pure olive oil. Since it is made for cooking. You can cook it at a certain amount of heat. Any food or vegetable you want to cook, use pure olive oil.
Extra virgin olive oil
It is dark in color. This oil is not made for cooking. Extra virgin olive oil is a dressing oil. This oil is for topping and salad dressing. Any food which is already cooked you can add this oil to it. Anything you made at home adds 1 spoon of extra virgin olive oil on it.
Extra virgin olive oil is preferable since you do not need to cook it.
Benefits of olive oil
- It is a good source of cholesterol. It helps to reduce the bad cholesterol which comes from bad fat. All bad oil, cheap oil, refined oil all are the source of bad cholesterol. They increase the cholesterol level in your body.

Olive oil is a monosaturated fat which is a heart-healthy fat. If you are using clarified butter (desi ghee), refined oil or any cheap oil than you are making your health worst. Since this oil is blocking your arteries. If your heart doesn’t pump the blood you can get the heart attack.
1-2 spoon is daily in your diet helps to open the arteries of people who have cholesterol. Using olive oil is the only way to keep your heart healthy.

You can take 1-2 servings of olive oil at lunch or dinner. If you are cooking something then use pure olive oil and on the salad, you can use extra virgin olive oil. Don’t cook any vegetable on more than 400F. Your stove should be medium-high.
Don’t cook any oil on high heat. Overcooking burns the nutrients of vegetable and heating oil on high heat for too long converts it into Tran’s fat. Which is very bad for your health. So, don’t cook food on the above medium heat.

Your olive oil should have USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) or IOC (International Olive Council) approved trademark. If you already have olive oil at your home then you have to check if it is pure or not. For that, put olive oil in the freezer. Leave it for 1 hour in the freezer. Check after one hour. If your oil gets freeze it is not pure and if it didn’t freeze it means it’s absolutely pure.
